Festive Friends

Thursday was a holiday shopping day in downtown Georgetown, with no plans to take anymore light photos on the square.   After the shopping was done, however, these four joyful faces presented themselves.  They presented their own light with radiant smiles.  Find joy where you can.

Georgetown Lights

The area is around the Georgetown square is impeccable all year long, but especially during the holiday season, when the lights really shine.   Photos presented were taken Tuesday night and tonight.   The row of stained glass windows are Main Street Baptist Church.   The other church is the facade of Grace Heritage Center, at one time Grace Episcopal Church, in Georgetown since 1881.

Lights in Thorndale

From a recent visit to Thorndale, Texas, a Milam County community a few minutes east of Taylor.  Recent census numbers indicate its population is nearing 1400 people.  A snippet of the town is said to be in Williamson County.   These small Texas towns are gems.

Mid December Skies

Another post was considered tonight, but the skies south of Taylor changed the plan.  The photographs begin with a lone tree in Beyersville.  For years a farmhouse sat next to  that tree, but now it’s just the tree.   Others are west of Beyersville, in the Coupland area.  The spire is St. Peter’s Church of Coupland.

The Walks

Photographs from this week’s walks in Taylor are offered tonight, a squirrel included.  The autumn colors this year are better than ever.   It’s nice to be able to stay close to home and experience it.   The little Olympus, equipped with a 45-150 Lumix lens (equivalent to a 90-300)  is a fine combination.

More From the Livestock Show

The Market Swine  competition was the main attraction today at the Williamson County Livestock Show, continuing at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor.   The photos mostly speak for themselves.   Just moments, and a little action.  The grand finale was the Future Feeders event, where kids 7 and younger begin to learn how things work .  The youngest competitor this year just turned 3-years-old.  The pig probably was five times her size.
