A Bit of Morning Fog

It’s hard to pass up a chance to photograph foggy scenes.    When seeing it roll in early this morning, I held off on reading a book to wander around a little.   After returning home, I grabbed my Olympus and went for a walk.   The opening photo, a heron nestled in a tree under  the approaching sun, was a walk photo.   The others were taken earlier.   I think those ducks chilling out on a baseball field backstop are called Whistling Ducks.    The cows, to my knowledge, do not whistle.   The sweet little pond is at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Wuthrich Hill.

Along a Dirt Road

This is along a (mostly) dirt road I like to drive along from time to time.  It’s only a few miles east of Granger.  The road landed on my visual radar when a Granger friend mentioned seeing a bald eagle in this area.   I’m still looking for that eagle, but do enjoy seeing what I see.  Prairie grass is a favorite subject.   Photographers know that photos can be over processed, but these are accurate representations of what was actually in front of my lens.  The eagle still eludes the camera.

Cupid’s Chase in Georgetown

The 28th Cupid’s Chase in Georgetown began just minutes after sunrise at San Gabriel Park.  Although the temperature lingered just above freezing, over 700 people participated in either the Kids’ Fun Run or a 5-K event.   Covering running events was something I did often during those years in Atlanta, Georgia.    It’s nice to attend a few  here, too.   This event is hosted by Georgetown Parks & Recreation.

A Windmill Revival

Since we’ve been back in Texas I’ve passed this site where a windmill once stood tall in North Williamson County.  Sadly, all that remained was the tower where it once sat.   Earlier this week, when passing that way, I was happy to see a windmill in place again.   Even on an evening filled with clouds, it shined like new money.    I don’t know if the owners just refurbished the old one, or if this is brand-spanking new.   Either way, with so much disappearing in our area of Central Texas, this was a beautiful sight.

“The Play That Goes Wrong”

“The Play That Goes Wrong” opens tonight at the Georgetown Palace.   Set on the Springer Memorial main stage, it’s the first non-musical production on that stage in quite a while.   This is an hilarious comedy, a play about a play.    I can’t provide a good description of this production,  but it’s definitely top-notch!   Pieces of the set actually fall to pieces a few times during the show.   Still photos do not do it justice.   The production runs through March 12th.

Highlights & Shadows in Milam County

These were taken a few days after the ice storm ripped through our area.   Though I didn’t care for the havoc caused, winter light continues to inspire me, particularly late (or early) in the day. These three photos were taken as I drove through the Milam County area called Apache Pass.   The San Gabriel River, visible in the second shot, flows underneath the road I traveled.   These are simple offerings, just light and shadow at work.   In the last photo a deer walks around some of the trees damaged by the storm.   At the grocery store this afternoon, the checkout clerk, who lives in Thorndale, mentioned he still doesn’t have power at his home.   We need the warm light a little more right now.
